STUDENTS TO BE PROUD OF
Congratulations to Travis Johnson (junior) trombone player, Emily Stanton (junior) flute player, and Risa Lisette (freshman) tuba player for each earning a spot in Pacific Lutheran University's Northwest High School Honor Band.
Music students from the entire northwest were nominated by their directors for inclusion in two prestigious bands (concert and orchestral). More than 80 schools nominated students.
Of the 800+ Ninth through Twelveth grade music students, 245 of those nominated were seniors. Each of the two bands consist of 80 musicians. To have three musicians from Mossyrock School District chosen to be included in these bands is quite an achievement.
Early in the morning on January 8, 2010, the accepted students will audition for their chair positions in front of PLU music majors at the PLU campus in Tacoma. They will then rehearse for the next six hours Friday, Jan. 8 and six more hours on Saturday, preparing for a concert that same Sturday night, January 9, 2010 on the PLU campus.
