Update about Traffic Signal from Sen. Dan Swecker

Chronline.com has a guest commentary posted from Senator Dan Swecker about the Mossyrock Traffic Signal.  Here's an excerpt.

Following another highway death in Mossyrock last month I vowed to push for the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection involved. It was the third fatality in five years at the junction of Williams Road and the White Pass Highway.

As the lead Republican on the Senate Transportation Committee I have worked with other legislators to secure money for safety improvements in the communities they represent.

This time I will be working to convince my colleagues that the $600,000 it could take to install a highway signal in Mossyrock would be money well spent. I know there are people in East Lewis County who would make phone calls and drive to the Capitol to deliver that message directly if need be.

But for today, the wheels are in motion. By the time the Legislature adjourns in mid-March, we will know if this vital safety improvement is still on track. For the sake of both locals and commuters I hope it is.
