What can we do to help our flooded neighbors?

As we watch the waters rise once again in our county we sit in one of the safest areas around. Many of us feel helpless in watching the disaster and want to know what we can do to help our neighbors both East and West of us. I received this message and thought many of you would like to know about it. Jackie Morris First, we are all keeping in our thoughts the situation faced by all affected by the flooding occurring right now in Lewis County and throughout the region. We will have more than enough time to become a part of the future solution. For now, let me urge those who are able to give of their time to act and act now. There are many ways to help: donations, thoughts and prayers. but perhaps what is most needed now is the gift of your time. The Lewis County Long Term Recovery Organization exists to help flood affected people in our community, and they need our help now. They need people who can assist physically in moving people, in finding safe places for uprooted families to live, to help answer phones, any number of ways. You can even donate funds to assist victims. If you have the time to help, please contact the Lewis County Long-Term Recovery Organization at 360.740.8323 as soon as possible. They're located at the Old St. Helen's Hospital Building, 500 SE Washington Avenue, in Chehalis. If you cannot reach them at that number, and wish to volunteer time or anything at all, feel free to leave your information at my office number at 740-0733.
