Elementary Music Concert A Big Hit

After many weeks of practicing, the elementary students of Mossyrock performed their holiday concert to a packed high school gym on Tuesday, December 16th. Here are some of the highlights. The kindergarten performed some very cute Santa and his reindeer songs to the delight of the crowds. Another favorite they sang was, "One Little Two Little Three Little Candy Canes." The kids, first to sixth grade, learned many holiday songs for the concert including the Elvis classic, "Blue Christmas." They were told by their music teachers, Mrs. Sturgeon and Mrs. Craft, that Elvis would be coming to the concert to join them in the song. They had no idea who was going to portrait Elvis until the day of the concert. Would you believe it? It was their very own principal, Mr. Torrey! Wow, the gym was blown away with excitement! Mr. Torrey did an impressive impersonation the evening of the concert. He had Elvis down pat. Watch out Las Vegas! One of the last songs the kids sang was the 12 Days of a Mossyrock Christmas. It told about some of the things that make our community so special. Here they are starting with number 12:

12 Acres of Blueberries

11 Viking Football Players – “Grrrr”

10 Poinsettias

9 Christmas Tree Farms

8 Logging Towers

7 Park Swimmers - “Brrrr”

6 Canadian Geese A-Laying

5 Million Tulips

4 Herds of Elk

3 Campgrounds

2 Big Dams

And 1 Great Town to Grow Up In

As each feature of Mossyrock was sung, kids held up pictures of what they sang about. Above you'll see some of the five million tulips the kids made, representing DeGoede's Bulb Farm here in Mossyrock. If you weren't able to attend the concert, you missed a great one!
