MOSSYROCK PUBLIC MARKET EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER

Due to the success of the new Mossyrock Public Market this summer, the market has extended its open dates through Sept 29. Originally slated to close after Labor Day Weekend, the market will now be open for four additional Saturdays, 10 am-4 pm. The Mossyrock Public Market has been popular with residents, tourists, and nearby businesses too, which have seen an increase in their business thanks to the influx of shoppers to the area. Vendors offer a variety of goods, including fruits and vegetables, plants, herbs, fresh bakery items, Mossyrock souvenir wear and other clothing, jewelry, yard art, woodworking items, pet accessories, other arts and crafts, and a food booth for hungry shoppers. The market is a grassroots effort by community members who came up with the idea of a public market at an Action Forum of the Horizons program. Horizons is an 18-month program designed to reduce poverty and create a more thriving community by developing leadership from within. Residents within the boundaries of the Mossyrock School District are taking part. The market has received strong support from local businesses and organizations and is already in planning mode for 2008. New vendors are still welcome for the remaining weeks.
